Where we rode:
Just under 200 miles through the hill country in central Texas.
starting from Mom & Dad's in North San Antonio...Route 281 North...FM-1863 East...
Route 46 East to New Braunfels...North along River Rd, next to the Guadalupe
River (we joined the tubers the very next day)...We ate BBQ and Frito Pies at
J's "Ain't No Fat on our Chop" Bar B Q, in Satler...A quick look atop the Canyon Lake Dam,
and it was on with the ride...West on FM-306, along the North side of Canyon Lake...
FM-3424 North...FM-32 East...FM-12 North, through Wimberley...FM-2325 West...
FM-165 West to Blanco, where we hydrated at the DQ...FM-1623 West...FM-1888 West...
FM-1376 South, to Boerne...Route 46 back to Route 281, and South to home.
From the ride...
- Had no idea it was Friday, the 13th. Losing track of the days
while on vacation...*priceless*.
- 100 plus degrees.
- Wimberley is a nice artsy town.
- It's amazing how little Canyon Lake activity there is on a non-weekend day
- The DQ we stopped at in Blanco is right across the street from Phil's BBQ,
where Danno & Annie ate lunch two days before.
- Don't even think about getting gas in Sisterdale. It's a one-horse town.
- Dad must have found the Harley somewhat comfortable; he drove it at
least 20% faster than the Nighthawk.
- The Beemer has an electric wind shield (up/down) that was actually quite effective.
