The 10/13/00 San Diego County tour

Who, on what:

Rick on his '98 Suzuki Intruder 1400
Jack on the rented 2000 Harley Heritage Springer
Danno on his '92 Yamaha FJ-1200

Where we rode:
230+ miles total; here are the fun roads worth mentioning, in order... Villa De La Valle, Del Dios Highway, Mission Road to Fallbrook, De Luz Road to Eagle's Nest and Temecula, 79 to The Hideout, S7/S6 on Mount Palomar, 76 to Valley Center and the back home.

Cruxes from the ride:

Del Dios is under construction; wait at least a year before riding it again.
There has to be better way to get from 78 to Fallbrook. At the very least, figure out how to get on E. Vista Way more directly. Once there, you have to jog on 76 into Bonsall to catch Mission Road.
Finding De Luz Road in Fallbrook is tricky. You have to get on dinky little Pico Road (was that a redundancy guzzle?) that runs between Main & Mission.
There's a big white dog near De Luz who owns the road. He's gonna lay in his shade, on his road, and unless you're in a Hummer, you'd better drive around him.
De Luz Road eventually splits into De Luz Road and Del Luz Murrietta. Take the latter.
When the signs on De Luz Road say "Slippery when Wet", they mean it.
Don't be surprised if you interrupt a lovers tryst when you climb up to the Eagles Nest.
There's no reason, ever, to venture toward Skinner Lake.
From Temecula, to hook up with 79, you have to go one exit South on I15, from the main Temecula drag. We still don't know how to hook up with S16 to go around the West side of Mt. Palomar.
The Hideout is ~2 miles off 79, on 76. You can see a sign from 76 that marks its West Loop road.
Harley, the massive Iguana at Eagle Rider, gets irritable when you block his sunlight.
