eurocop: On the Bodensee

http://www.coppock.com/danno/Euro98/

Coppocks checking in at ~9:00pm, 7/1/98...

If zou can't read the following, realize we are on a foreign
kezboard...and we are drinking beer. "y" is where the "z" should be, and
vise versa. There is also a weird "ä" kez where the ' should be. OK,
caveots done.

(Annie) Hey again everyone! Wow, two days in a row.

First things first. Happy Birthday Kelly (our 6 year old niece!). July
5th is the big day! And, Happy Birthday John! 35! You old man (and in
the waz!)!

We're back in Germany for the day, at Konstanz on the Bodensee. Well, I
guess I cursed us by sazing that we've been luckz, and we haven't had to
ride in the rain...because todaz we got dumped on. The rain was actuallz
refreshing...still warm, just wet. Reminded me of my Wisconsin summer
days! The Bodensee Lake is HUGE! At some points you can't see to the
other side. If it were sunny out, I'm sure it'd be beautiful.

We intended to stop in Romanshorn, but decided to ride on in to
Konstantz. Romanshorn was a dump. Another 75km day!

Tomorrow we plan to go to Steim am Rhein (on the Rhine), and then on to
Zürich. By the way, you should see the water in the Rhine...it's aqua
green. Crossing the border on a bike is a trip.

Here's Danno...

Okaz, well our 80-90km dazs are a little embarassing now. We talked to
a guz from Sweden who is on a 4-month journez to Gibralter and back. He
camps and does about 120km/daz.

Annie sazs I should warn the non-nerd audience to skip this paragraph.
So this is the first time we had to actuallz paz for internet access.
It's 5 deutchmarks per 20 minutes, or 15DM for an hour (what a
bargain). The technologz in this cafe is no big whoop. Looks like an
minihub, to an Ascend pipeline, for a wheenie, but adequate ISDN
connection to the world. Someone should reallz be jumping on the
Internet Cafe business along the Romantische Straße in Bavaria. There
are sooo manz tourists there, and I'll bet it would jam in the next few
zears.

Can't believe were onlz half-waz through with this journez. The legs
feel great, and we actuallz are bummed when we can't ride more than 50km
in a daz. We just hope that Swityerland offers some differences, as the
usuallz routine of braty, bier, and church bells everz 15 minutes might
start to get old. Well, mazbe not.

We definitelz noticed some differences in Austria and Swityerland. More
people seem to speak some contortion of English here. Although it's
usuallz better than our bleak German attempt: "Icht möchte zwei dunkel
biers, bitte".

Okaz, we'll check in later.

Danno & Annie out...
